Cocktail of the Week: Red Apple Martini

This is a delicious drink that was born of necessity. Took inventory of our bar a couple nights ago and realized that we had some things that we simply never drank. Including some apple-flavored vodka. So, I Googled around and found this one. I am not a fan of the sour green appletinis that so many bars serve (no Midori for me, thank you!), so tinkered with it a bit and came up with this. It tastes just like a crisp apple. If you like it a little sweeter, add a splash of grenadine. Makes it sweet and helps turn it the color of a burnished apple skin.

Red Apple Martini
This one just takes two ingredients.

1 oz. apple vodka
2 oz. apple juice

Shake juice and vodka together in ice-filled shaker. Strain into cocktail glass or champagne flute and serve immediately. (You can gild the lily if you'd like and run a lemon wedge around the glass rim and dip into a mixture of 1 tablespoon sugar and 1 teaspoon ground cinammon.)
